It's official, we're going to the polls on 7th May 2020 to elect the new council for the new unitary area of West Northamptonshire (Daventry + Northampton Borough + South Northamptonshire). Our Liberal Democrat candidates will fight your corner in your community.
Local candidates and activists, the Liberal Democrats West Northants Mini Conference is on Saturday 7th March. Don't miss this day of talk, training and canvassing.
Extra chairs had to be unstacked in the upstairs hall at the historic Chantry House in Towcester on the evening of 30th January 2020 as new local party members and old flocked to the annual general meeting of South Northamptonshire Liberal Democrats.
Outgoing Chair, Mark Allen, summed up the year. Locally the party had seen positive results in the General Election (doubling the vote) and local elections, and membership had increased. In the immediate future the local party would be focussed on a strong positive campaign in the forthcoming unitary elections.
In May 2020 there will be major elections for the new West Northamptonshire Unitary Council.
To be able to stand candidates in every ward we need more members to come forward.
Are you willing to set aside some time to serve your local community as one of our councillors?
We want to talk to people who care about their community and want to be part of a successful team. There's lots of support and guidance available to newbies. You're invited to come to a "Motivate Day" for candidates and prospective candidates across Northamptonshire this Sunday, 9th February in Wellingborough and we will also be holding a "mini conference" for candidates in March.
